What do we mean by “activating your air”?
We’re talking about getting that air circulating through your house! This is done with some kind of blower equipment — most commonly central air handlers. Essentially, whatever the main equipment is that pulls in the air from the living areas of your house through the ductwork → works its magic on that air → and then sends it back into your living areas.
Got it. We now know what activating the air means. Why is it important?
Well, in short, circulation plays a foundational role in being able to deliver treated air to you, the breather! If your system isn’t moving the air, you won’t get to reap the benefits that your other “solution” equipment (think filters, mechanical ventilation, dehumidifiers & humidifiers) are trying to provide.
A home without active air becomes stagnant, stale, blah. Also, without it, HAVEN cannot deliver on its #breathebetter promise to you. In this state, it’s unable to track the air quality parameters in your home which means it can’t tell what equipment should be on to respond to your everyday activities.
What are the benefits of circulating your air?
-
It uses way less energy than when it’s in heating or cooling mode.
-
Filtering happens simultaneously.
-
HAVEN can keep stay up to date on your air quality status so it can activate the right solution equipment when you need it.
Do you have a HAVEN Controller installed already?
-
Yes, I have a Controller installed.
-
Easy! To get regular air circulation in your home, all you need to do is make sure your Automation Schedule for your blower equipment (either “Central Air Handler” or “ERV”) is activating your air on an hourly basis. We even recommend having it run once every half hour to increase the system’s responsiveness to your activities.

Don’t know how to edit your Automation Schedule?
Follow these instructions.

-
No, I don’t have a Controller installed.
-
Go to your thermostat. If you have a smart thermostat you should have an option to set up a schedule that will activate your air regularly throughout a specific timeframe you choose. Make sure it’s using the FAN mode. Not heating or cooling. This will ensure you’re not racking up a bigger electricity bill or making your home too warm or cool.
-
If you don’t have a smart thermostat, you may only have the option to have your fan in “Auto” or “On” mode. “On” will run it constantly, and while that may be good for your air, it may not be the best solution for your wallet or the climate your home is in. “Auto” will likely only run your system if it’s outside of the temperature window you have set up. If your home is sealed well, this could mean that your system only comes on a couple of times a day. Not ideal for your air quality. This is the perfect situation for a HAVEN Controller to be installed alongside the equipment.
